Unexpected Ode

Ode to the cold spot in my bed
You stand alone all through the day
About twelve hours until I come again
When I do come back
You provide me with the best comfort
Sometimes you make me too warm
But whenever I roll over to that cold spot
That you keep the perfect temperature for twelve hours
I fall to a deeper state of comfort
And for that I thank you
You cool me down when I over heat
And awaking me when I am to cold
You’re like a perfect thermostat in my bed

Literary Litany

To my mother:

You are the strength and the kindness,
the loving and the caring.
You are the most outstanding
and the wise.
You are the happiness,
and the love.

However, you are not evil,
viscous,
or ungrateful.
And you are certainly not needy.
There is just no way that you are selfish.

It is possible that you are willing,
maybe even hard working,
but you are not even close
to being lazy.

And a quick look in the mirror will show
that you are neither complicated
nor difficult

It might interest you to know,
speaking of the plentiful imagery of the world,
that I look up to you.

I also happen to be willing,
giving
and compassionate.

I am also the focused
and the determined.
But don't worry, I'm not the strength and the kindness.
You are still the strength and the kindness.
You will always be the strength and the kindness,
not to mention the loving and--somehow--the caring.

Personal Introduction

Hello! My name is Kaitlin McHugh I am Eighteen years old and this is my second semester here at LC. Nampa Idaho is where I call home. For those that don't know Nampa is about thirty minutes form Boise.  My major is Nursing. After college, I plan on using my degree working in the ER as an RN. I grew up on a fruit farm and my family also raised dairy cows. Growing up in that environment I started showing dairy heifers at my county when I was six. That passion grew and I continued until this past summer. Another passion of mine is dancing. I danced at a studio for the most part and also danced for my high schools dance team. That is just a brief sum up about me. I hope to meet more of you throughout this semester!
